Roughstock Events- Bareback, Saddle Bronc and Bull Riding
Horses and bulls are only bucked out once per day, and the competitors normally only have one chance to make their 8 second ride! All cowboys in each event must use only one hand to ride and touching the animal, your equipment or yourself with the free hand results in disqualification and no score. Scores are given equally to the animal and the competitor, with a maximum of 100 points. If more than one judge their scores are averaged together.
The Timed Events- Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Tie-Down Roping and Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping
The timed events use stopwatches to track the times of each evnt. All events except barrel racing use a barrier which is strung across the roping chutes. The barrier prevents the cometitor from getting a head start on the livestock.
Before the rodeo the cowboys randomly draw the animal they will be competing against, and the barrel racers draw for their order of go.
The Main Event Rodeo limits each event to 10 contestants in each timed event. The others who are entered and competing at the rodeo do so during "slack" which will take place Sunday morning 10-12. This ensures the viewing audience a chance to watch all the events.
Buckles will be awarded to the winner from Saturday's or Sunday's Events.
